What is FVMQ Fluorosilicone O-ring?

FVMQ Fluorosilicone O-ring shares the outstanding ozone, sunlight, and weathering resistance of the silicone. Our FVMQ fluorosilicone O-ring has widest use in aggressive military, aerospace, and automotive environments involving exposure to fuels over wide temperature ranges. It is not recommended for dynamic sealing due to poor abrasion resistance.

FVMQ Fluorosilicone O-ring has service temperatures that range from -60°C to 230°C. Fluorosilicone o-rings are a hybrid of silicone and FKM resulting in great jet fuel resistance with high and low temperature performance. Also widely used in semiconductor Ashing equipment with strong resistance to oxygen plasma, FVMQ fluorosilicone o-ring also features excellent flexibility, compression resistance, aging and sunlight resistance, and overall wide range of basic chemical resistance.

Fluorosilicone exhibits mechanical and physical characteristics very similar to silicone. Fluorosilicone offers greater fuel and oil resistance than silicone, but lower hot air resistance.

Features of FVMQ Fluorosilicone O-ring

FVMQ fluorosilicone O-ring has excellent flexibility and resistance to compression set, excellent resistance to aging and weather-sunlight, good resistance to oxidizing chemicals, animal and vegetable oils, fuels, aromatic and chlorinated solvents. It is good Resistant to diluted alkalies, diester oils, aliphatic and aromatic fluorocarbons, silicone oil, toluene, benzene, ozone and oxidative environments.

FVMQ Fluorosilicone O-ring Applications

Primary uses of FVMQ fluorosilicone O-rings are in fuel systems at temperatures up to +180°C and in applications where the dry-heat resistance of silicone O-rings are required. Fluorosilicone O-rings may also be exposed to petroleum based oils and hydrocarbon fuels. In some fuels and oils, however, the high temperature limit in the fluid list is more conservative because fluid temperatures approaching 220°C may degrade the fluid, producing acids which attack fluorosilicone O-rings. For low temperature applications, fluorosilicone O-rings seal at temperatures as low as -73°C.

Due to relatively low tear strength, high friction and limited abrasion resistance of these materials, FVMQ fluorosilicone O-rings are generally recommended for static applications only. FVMQ fluorosilicone O-rings with high tear strength are also available.
